Formally trained at the Art Centre College of Design in Los Angeles,
Phil Suter later migrated to Australia where he now resides.
After working for years as a designer, involved in both international and national projects, Phil now devotes his time to Fine Art, as a Contemporary Realist,
which he considers being his most natural form of expression, exhibiting his work
to a wider audience, allowing his sharp observation, love of detail
and subtle surrealism to permeate all of his visuals.
He has produced commissioned portraits and artworks, which not only include
Australian personalities but also commemorative streetscapes, maritime art,
and depictions of local iconic places, buildings and ships.
Phil enjoys working in different artistic techniques and media which relate
to what the artwork he is producing is communicating.
Many of his works reflect commemoration, that speaks to a specific community, recounting the story of a particular place, time, character and event.
Artist Statement:
Within each artistic expression I aim to capture a sense of place, memory and spirit.
